The experience gained with its customers in the field of design, integration, supply construction of test benches for electric motors, has allowed CustoM 2.0, in the course of 2021, to invest in the construction of a testing facility for Electric-Vehicles: TEV2021. A real Test Room located in the Grugliasco headquarters, will allow CustoM 2.0 to also provide a service for the management of the “testing” of “electric vehicles” to all those companies currently involved in the transition process of the automotive market towards the ‘electrification of vehicles, whether they are car-makers or component manufacturers.
The idea was born from a project, shared with the Polytechnic of Turin, which required a complete, proprietary, and modular test bench based on the needs of different applications and solutions. With this objective, CustoM 2.0 has created TEV2021, a test room, which can host tests for:
- electric engines
- inverter
- components used on full hybrid, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid vehicles
- components for full-electric vehicles
- battery packs
- transfer box
- VMU – Vehicle Management Unit
The TEV2021 test room was set up inside a 20-foot container module completely adapted for the purpose thanks to complete and accurate customization. The test room is flanked by a fully equipped Control Room equipped with a measurement system, control PC, battery simulators, and all the components necessary for the operation of the TEV2021 bench.
In addition, inside the TEV2021 Test Room, there are all the safety features such as REI soundproofing panels, internal lighting, a dedicated fire prevention system, remote video surveillance system.
The TEV2021 testing facility for Electric-Vehicles will mainly have 2 uses:
Carry out the pre-testing of the test benches on electrification components designed and manufactured by CustoM 2.0
Give the possibility to carry out tests on behalf of third parties on electrification components such as electric motors, inverters, battery packs, VMU. This service includes an initial discussion phase with the customer to understand the test needs of the component (DUT – Device Under Test) that will be tested. The characteristics of the DUT will be compared with the capabilities of the power and measurement components present in the test room in order to understand the correct configuration required and, consequently, to define an operational plan.
The type of components chosen to create the TEV2021 test room also offers a unique feature of its kind: the ability to physically transport the test room to the customer’s premises or wherever it is deemed necessary. The only prerequisite: is the on-site connection to an adequate electricity network.
